PookyMedia Films took the call when Skylar Smythe and Mykall Skall needed filmmakers to record the historic opening of The Chelsea Hotel in Second Life.
Come with us into the building whose physical counterpart has housed artists, writers and those who have created the fabric of our culture.
NY Times journalist, Saki Knafo, was present to witness the occasion for his own first visit to Second Life, then to interview Mykall on location against the backdrop of world class poetry and contemporary art in one of the most incredible landmarks in any universe.
The unleashed readings of the poets are available HERE.

Very cool Pooky!
Well done! An honor to have been part of it, even though I was threatened with a fly swatter! *Grin*
And if I could spell, I may learn to write...
Cheers to All, and peace,
Brian
This is Skylar Smythe. It was my great honor and priviledge to Manage this event for my friend Mykal Skall, and to take part in the day.
Pooky and Rosco, thank you so much for the production of this deeply moving machinima. I was in tears!
To the poets who participated and all the artists who attended and assisted, my eternal thanks. We were all part of making a stand for the preservation of The Hotel Chelsea, and defending on of the last great cradles and outposts of bohemia in North America.
We have a voice as Artists in the Metaverse.

The film is beautifully made Pooky. I was really pleased to take part and to call people over from the Poetry Society SL Stanza. We have our news put on the RL Poetry Society website and we put a link to this video so that other members of the Poetry Society in the UK can see how SL can be used by writers http://www.poetrysociety.org.uk/content/membership/stanzas/stanzanews/#SecondLife
I HAVE HEARD MANY STORIES OF THE REAL CHELSEA BY MY GOOD FRIENDS MAITREYA AND HER FATHER MICHAEL BOWEN. LIKE THE FIRST NIGHT OF THE FEW MONTHS THEY LIVED THERE, IN THE LOBBY WAS A POET AND HIS PET ALLIGATOR. LOTS OF PARTIES. MICHAEL AND MAITREYA BOTH PRODUCED MUCH ART IN THE PENTHOUSE OF THE CHELSEA HOTEL IN THE 80'S. IT WAS A VERY UNIQUE ATMOSPHERE THEY SAID. PERFECT TO CREAT WITHIN.L
